He operated on me in 2008. I have been looking for a place to post my review since then (I could not find the correct spelling of his namebut I just found my old paperwork). He absolutely lied to me about the recovery time after my surgery. He stated clearly that I could return to work "in a week or two." In two weeks, my wounds were not healed, I had one infected wound and could not wear closed shoes! When I went for a follow up appointment, he calmly asked me, "why is it that you cannot wear closed shoes again?" I showed him my toe but all he did was clean it with some iodine ticture swabs and give me a couple to take home. I was out of work for months!!! You see, I work in healthcare where I cannot wear open shoes! Even after the wounds healed, pressure from closed shoes was too much. I had to speak to the hospital administrator where I worked to allow me to wear special shoes when I finally had to find a new job!

I had the surgery at Lankenau hospital. Dr. Santomauro had said that I would be able to walk without any problem after the surgery. To my dismay, I was non-weight-bearing on both feet and was slapped with a pair of clutches after the surgery and discharged home. Nobody cared that I'd never used clutches before in my life and that I had 12 steps to get to my front door!

The surgery itself was a nightmare because he had an anesthesiologist that was so mean, even hateful. For reasons unknown to me, he grabbed and slammed my arm several times on the table to position it as he administered the anesthesia. He would not say a word to me even though they are required to discuss the process of anesthesia prior to surgery. I heard him discuss the whole process in detail with the person in the room next to me before his surgery. When he came to me, he only confirmed my name and birthday!!! He treated and handled me like an animal while Dr. Santomauro was casually chit chatting about some mutual colleague or something vague. By the time he slammed me down on the table the second time, I was determined to say something but unfortunately anesthesia was already taking effect.

Once I returned to the doctor's office for follow up, I was already so hurt and disgusted. I ended up resigning my job and just stayed home to heal. My neighbors and friends were shocked to hear that I had been told I could return to work in a week or two. To this day, many potential customers who know my story make it a point to tell others not to go to this obviously inexperienced, uncaring, rude doctor.

I don't know about other doctors in this practice but I know nobody who wants good care should ever go to Dr. Joseph M. Santomauro for any type of care. He might have moved to Moorestown, NJ but wherever he is, BUYER BEWARE!
