I had an excellent experience with Dr Burden. The results are excellent from my liposuction. I didn't experience a single complication after my surgery. I had a very short recovery period too. Joan goes out of her way to make everyone feel equally respected and cared for, and I really appreciate the extra effort she make. I'm confident Dr Burden always has my best interest at heart.

I just wanted to say that I had my breast augmentation done by Dr. Burden in 1999 when I lived there and worked at a Surgery Center. Since then we have moved back home to Texas and I recommend to friends who are considering the surgery, that they make it a vacation and go to Dr. Burden. It is definitely worth the trip. I had the underarm incision and the scar is not visible at all and my augmentation is very normal looking. I could not be happier with my results and my husband and I thank him very much!

I had a tummy tuck on Feb 9, 2009, and the day after the surgery we took photos of a beautiful new abdomen. 3 days later I called Dr. Burden's nurse to tell her the compression garment did not fit anymore. I did not know it, but I was growing what was to be a hematoma in excess of a quart. With each visit, I asked Dr. Burden why my belly was growing and why I was experiencing this tremendous pain. A CT scan would show my umbilicus was herniated, and the mass pushing outward was excruciating. Dr. Burden kept telling me that it was inflammation and that it would go down. How can a belly that was flat the day after surgery, swell up like a basketball and be hard as a rock? I sent him the CT scan narrative and my next appointment was cancelled without notifying me. I sent e-mails, made phone calls, and begged for help with this complication, but it fell on deaf ears. Unbelieveable. After 3 CT scans, 1 ultrasound, and seeing many other doctors at my Air Force Base, Dr. Burden only aspirated one section of the hematoma on Oct 27, 2009, nine months after the surgery caused it. It yielded over 22 oz of dark red blood, though his notes on my record called it "minimal drainage". He did not drain the other portion, but did tell me to move on with my life. The second portion was drained in Jan 2010 by a general surgeon on the Air Force base. That yielded another 12 oz, not including what poured off my belly onto the pads. 34 oz is huge, yet he still won't say it was a big hematoma.
Everybody said to sue, but I did not. I kept waiting for his conscience to kick in. Month after month I begged and pleaded with Dr. Burden to help me. This went on for over a year. Now my abdomen is stretched out, the navel is off center, the navel tunnel is almost 3" long, I have the sacks that contained the hematoma inside of me, I'm out $10,450, and I've lost faith in someone who seems to have lost his moral compass. He asked me what I wanted, I said that he should compensate me for all that he'd allowed to happen to me. He said that the hematoma is gone now. He offered to do the revision. The first time I asked about one, he said I would have to pay. I have never seen my new abdomen in the mirror and that doesn't phase him either.
So, what seemed to be his strategy? Blame the patient. He asked to speak with my psychiatrist, psychologist and general surgeon before he would continue treating me to formulate a resolution. Then there was no offer of resolution. Incredible.
As I write this it's with a very heavy heart. I truly understand that people make mistakes, and I told him from the very beginning to deal with this and all would be forgiven. It's not the mistake I am angry about; it's what we do to correct our error that defines us.
He didn't care that he'd hurt me or forever changed my life.

I had liposuction by another plastic surgeon about ten years ago. The results were ok. I still had some problem areas and decided to have another consultation for liposuction. Not only am I pleased with my results, but Dr. Burden also improved on the results of my first liposuction. Thanks to Dr. Burden, I am now ready for bathing suit season.
