Dr. Teynor is a wonderful patient advocate. He was passionate at exploring my needs initially. Now Dr. Teynor and I are a "team." Together we are working to expand my possibilities that, at one time, I thought were long gone.

I have never dealt with a more compassionate psychiatrist. Instead of just whipping out the prescription pad and writing a bunch of prescriptions as I spoke, Dr. Teynor listened very closely before making any decisions. He made sure that I was sitting so that he could make eye contact and very clearly explained what my treatment options were. I have been suffering with depression for the past couple of years and he's the first doctor to truly understand what I'm going through and was able to prescribe a regimen that was finally (thank god) effective.

They've never dismissed any of my concerns as unimportant, and take every concern of mine very seriously. They make sure to treat all their clients equally and without favoritism. I've always hated it when I've seen favoritism going on at other places I've visited. It's nice that it doesn't happen here. I never have to worry about them overbooking appointments. They definitely believe in quality over quantity here and it is much appreciated. Their prices were very affordable, and they told me before my appointment how much I could expect to pay.

I was a patient of Dr. Teynor's for about five years. I recommended him to everyone I knew. What I liked best about Dr. Teynor was that he was not condescending. He spoke to me respectfully, as one person to another. More importantly, he treated me like a capable individual who had obvious insights into her own illness as a result of experiencing it first-hand. I sought treatment from him even during periods when I chose to go off of my medications, and used him as a sounding board sometimes to stay aware and clear about my mental health, or lack of it.

Sadly, at my very worst hour I was hospitalized and sought his treatment upon release. I had been put on a drug called Geodon, which I was unfamiliar with and had never taken during the 15 years I had been treated for bipolar disorder. Despite ECT treatments, I had a very bad reaction to the drug. I believe they call it akithisia. I can only describe it as living hell. No panic attack can compare to the anxiety and the constant physical discomfort I suffered. Not wanting to give up the hope I had that the ECT treatments and new drug combination was the answer to my recovery, I called Dr. Teynor several times. I asked him to prescribe something to relieve my suffering. My parents, out of a desire to understand what was happening to me, visited Dr. Teynor in his office with me. He told my parents that I was just displaying attention-seeking behavior and that since the ECT treatments had not worked for me, his conclusion was that I did not have bipolar disorder. Suddenly, I was a Personality Disorder patient. He was extremely short with me and told me out-right that he would not prescribe anything effective for my anxiety because he felt it to be something that was all in my head. That was that. After five years of treatment and having trusted this doctor's opinion, he just changed my diagnosis and dismissed me from his office.

BTW, I subsequently quit taking the Geodon as I had a hunch it was the cause of my ...anxiety hardly seems an accurate description of the excruciating doom and physical discomfort I felt. Upon ceasing the medication, the symptoms began to wane and I have been receiving treatment from my regular physician. Sadly, I do not place the same trust in doctors that I once did. Dr. Teynor turned out to be completely insensitive and unwilling to acknowledge and treat me during the worst experience I have ever had. The internet is replete with information about akithisia. In retrospect, I see that Dr. Teynor has probably treated several patience who have had similar reactions to drugs, like what I experienced with Geodon. He had to have been able to recognize what was happening to me; I think he just chose to stop treating me because I lost my insurance.

As a result, Dr. Teynor does not have a good review from me.
