I waited six weeks to get in with this doctor. Her staff assured me on the phone when making the appointment that Hoverman accepts my insurance and is taking new patients. However, I was in for a very rude awakening. Upon arriving this morning for my appointment, and after entering the cramped elevator vestibule that masquerades as a lobby that was already packed with patients and a short wait, I was called to the cluttered little office window and rudely told not only that they don't accept my insurance, but that the whole mix-up was my fault! And two women -- one young and one old -- repeatedly snarled these accusations of my misleading them, along with defensive and angry statements assuring me that they never make mistakes -- all the while not bothering to hand me back the documents I had submitted to them so I could leave -- since there wasn't any point in staying. I think anyone would be a damn fool to think there would be a good outcome at such a place, given the idiocy of the staff on this initial outing. I'm counting it as a blessing that I didn't get any further into this nightmare.

Not at all! They are always respectful and courteous!

Definitely! They always call me back very quickly!

Never, they are very reliable.

Somewhat. But I mostly felt ignored.

Yes, it was convenient

No, they are really great about answering the phone right away

No, they definitely favor certain clients

Dr. Hoverman and her entire staff are personable, knowledgeable, and most importantly the most helpful medical team I have ever experienced. They care for me as an individual and are the most friendly group I have ever met.

Dr. Hoverman is definitely smart and pretty good at her job. There's only a couple of things I have a problem with. She sometimes holds way too firmly to the AMA/insurance industry line, to the point of being an apologist for the industry. Whatever they say is the best course of treatment currently has to be correct. I'd prefer a physician that treats some of my insurance company's decisions (and the AMA's for that matter) with the skepticism they deserve, and is willing to bend their rules to get me the best care.

She also tends to jump to conclusions after only hearing part of my symptoms. Not always, but sometimes, she'll interrupt and be off down the trail telling me what's wrong and what's going on with me. When I speak up to say that what she's describing does NOT match my symptoms, she'll back track and get a little defensive and justify her diagnosis to make it match the new information. Now, she's probably at least partly right, and what she's telling me to do in these instances has not been unreasonable, plus I do come to her for her professional expertise...still, it doesn't give you a warm fuzzy that your doctor has heard all the evidence, weighed that against her knowledge carefully and given you the best diagnosis possible. It seems much more like she's made a snap judgement and then just sticks to that.

In her defense, she is patient enough to talk to me about the diagnosis, and will answer any questions I have about it without being condescending. Not all doctors are capable of that these days.

Not at all. They closed early even though they knew I needed help
