Under no circumstances will I be seeing this doctor again. When I learned that I had made a mistake in my understanding of a birth control method, he did not mention that emergency contraception would still be effective (although had I been less frazzled due to missing time off of work, and the office having a fire drill while I was there, I would have realized I was just out of the 72 hour time frame). Emergency contraception is actually affective for up to 5 days, although less so. He was not aware that there are tests available for HPV, nor did he seem to be aware of methods that allow detection of pregnancy at a time earlier than the standard day after your missed period. I found him to be condescending, rather than informative. He did not believe me when I stated I had a slight latex allergy, as I could not wear the powdered latex gloves. Even though the powder (cornstarch) is not made of latex, latex protein does bind to it, and caused my allergic reaction. If you need a physician who is informative, kind, and understanding, I suggest you look elsewhere. If you prefer the daddy-knows-best attitude, I suggest you see him.
