Dr. Chetlin is the best dentist I have ever been too--and I am the daughter of a dentist and extremely picky! She noticed a problem that had been plaguing me for nearly a decade, which had gone unresolved by several dentists (they tried but had no answers). She looked at my xrays in another room and walked in saying, "Do you have a problem area here? I can fix that!" and she DID. In under 30 mins she had resolved an issue no one else could! Her office is also very nurturing, for lack of a better term: filled with women who ask you if you're comfortable with this and that, are very friendly and concerned about the emotional as well as oral health of their patients. My husband and I LOVE her and will never stray!

My wife had braces done by Dr. Chetlin's husband and he recommended Dr. Melnick (sp) so we went to him after having trouble at other dentists. When he sold his practice we were sad as we really liked him but Dr. Chetlin has been really great! I've had two appointments with her and really feel safe and comfortable with her. I also like her redesign of the space - cork flooring and no more fox news on the TV! She's very good with her patients and if you've had issues with others relax and go see Dr. Chetlin!

The dentist is friendly; however, the receptionists are not friendly and occasionally, while sitting in the waiting room, you can hear them bad-mouth patients after getting off the phone with them. They also charge you up-front instead of filing with insurance first even if you explicitly and politely request them to do otherwise, which is bizarre and frustrating. Once they overcharged me, so much that the charge was higher than the actual bill *before* accounting for insurance. I personally stopped by the office to ask for an explanation, but the receptionists were rude and did not fix it. I then discovered that they never filed the claim with insurance. This blatant problem took 3-4 months to resolve. While waiting in the reception area, I noticed that someone else was calling in about a similar situation where their insurance company never received a claim either. I'm seriously considering switching dentists due to their billing procedures, which are at best incompetent and at worst dishonest. Sorry, but no matter how friendly the dentist is, the stress of dealing with their billing tricks is simply not worth it.

I highly recommend Dr. Julie Chetlin! I was previously a patient of Dr. Melnick and he was just fantastic, so I was a bit skeptical when he sold his practice. I had nothing to worry about! Dr. Chetlin provides excellent dental work. I've had a few appointments and each time, she explains what some of the issues are, which order she recommends to fix them and when doing the procedures she is professional but she is entertaining enough to take your mind off of the drilling in your mouth. I will continue to go to her after I move out of Oakland!

Julie Chetlin is amazing. Seriously the best dentist I've ever had... light years better than the guy whose office/business space she took over. Also, she's hilarious - like a cross between Ellen Degeneres and Florence Henderson. You won't meet a friendlier, kinder, more professional dentist in Pittsburgh.
