I recently moved into the area and was in search of a new dentist. Sklar Family Dentistry was a logical choice – around the corner and accepted my insurance provider; however I wish I had looked elsewhere.

I had the worst professional services experience of my life. At first, everything seemed to be in line with your typical dental office -- nice staff, friendly and knowledgeable dentist. I scheduled an appointment to have a dental exam and cleaning and left with no cleaning (and a new appointment for 6 months out for the cleaning) and services that were unnecessary and costly. I was told my insurance would cover the bill and left somewhat satisfied, however baffled that they did not provide the cleaning services (I shrugged it off and went on my way for the day).

Weeks later, I received a call asking to verify my address (which they had, they had already mailed my client profile) and that they were sending a “statement” from my appointment. It turned out to be a bill for services they provided that I did not need and were not covered by my insurance as I had been told. Perplexed by the situation, I called Sklar’s office manager to make her aware of the situation. After failing to see my side of the situation and essentially telling me that all of this was my fault, we concluded that I would pay the bill, cancel my next appointment and I would look for dental services elsewhere. I felt shocked, cheated and really like she just didn’t care (sometimes it’s not just about the money).

This message is not intended to be defamatory to the dental work that is provided by Sklar Family Dentistry, however, like most consumers of professional services, I expect to be treated fairly and that they are looking out for my best interest (cost included). I was forced to take the only coarse of action we have as consumers – look for services elsewhere, however to Sklar Family Dentistry it seemed more like I was being discarded. The bottom line is that there a plenty of dental offices with nice staff, friendly and knowledgeable dentists that provide needed services fairly and in your best interest.

Definitely. I was given a thorough explanation about many techniques I could practice at home

Definitely! Everyone knows they are the best around!

Not at all, it was very peaceful and quiet

Completely!
