1st i have a hmo and requires me to be on a list. just moved looking for a dentist close by. I called the office and explained the situation to the receptionist ( i was having servere pain and needed a referral from dentist before could go to oral surgeon) she was slightly rude but said could accept an emergency switch, but had to call back after insurance faxed paper. Called back & then informs me that dr is out of town for 2 weeks. patiently waited for my appointment. 1tooth hurt bad b/c touching nerve. asked dentist for something for the pain until we could do treatment. told me to take tylenol. asked what they would give me after some of my intensive procedures and told me to get tylenol. Also would not be able to give me a treatment plan or options for a few days. The whole office staff is very unfriendly. (which is shocking because nobody every feels good about going to the dentist, most people dread it) they are not sympathetic at all. I walked out of the office thinking that this was the most heartless dentist office i have ever seen or heard of. I am not a drug seeker or anything like that. I have true major dental problems that are extremely appearant.
I went in for a routine cleaning. After having the cleaning the receptionist informed me that they had done more then just a normal cleaning and I was to pay 5 times what I normally pay. I was never informed or asked if I wanted this procedure-they just did it and expected me to pay. The receptionist was very rude about it and said there was nothing she could do. The dentist was also out of town so I never even saw him!! I didn't feel like anything different had been done than every other cleaning I had ever done. I called my insurance company and they said what they did was VERY UNETHICAL! I was very upset and went to work the next day and spoke to a coworker who also uses the same dentist. She said the exact same thing happened to her a few months before. I feel like they sure have some kind of scam going and I am going to report them and hope this doesn't happen to anyone else because it is just WRONG. You're suppossed to trust your dentist and the people in the office and I wouldn't trust them with anything!!
