I went to Dr. Britten's facility via an appointment from the Biddeford Free Clinic. I was to have four teeth extracted.

The doctor seemed impatient, condescending, and cold; when I attempted to ask him questions he pretty much told me to talk to my primary-care dentist, ignoring the fact that I didn't have one. When he walked in the door he didn't even know how many teeth he was removing, and seemed completely indifferent on the subject - he pretty much had me decide how many to remove and refused to clearly discuss treatment options or describe exactly what it is he was going to do.

He swabbed my mouth with Novocaine and gave me approximately 8-10 shots of some other numbing drug before he left to let the anesthetic set in. During this time, confused and quite frightened, I began crying - the nurse eventually realized I was upset and offered me a tissue, then left me alone to (according to my boyfriend in the waiting room) gossip about me crying to her fellow staff. She came back and we talked a little, and I finally got her to explain to me what was going to happen and how bad it would hurt. She also seemed reluctant to answer my questions about the upcoming procedure or any post-care I should do, telling me that the Doctor would tell me about that afterward.

The surgery itself was painful, abrupt, and rather rushed seeming. He essentially tilted my head back and began ripping out teeth while telling me I was going to feel "a lot of strong PRESSURE" as he scraped, ripped, and tugged on my teeth. When I gargled out around his hand that it hurt he withdrew, shot me 3-4 more times with that syringe of pain killer, and exasperatedly huffed "Does it hurt NOW?"; when I declined, he sneered "That's not PAIN, that's PRESSURE." No, it fucking hurt - that was -pain-, jackass.

The whole surgery took about a half-hour, and felt like forever. If I had had any other options, and I mean ANY other options, I would never have submitted to this man's "care". I left Dr. Britten's office feeling maimed. As is, I'm thankful that the holes seem to be healing okay thus far. I would -not- recommend this to anyone, not even to people I don't like.

He treated me like a 2nd class citizen. He refused to take both wisdom teeth out at once even tho they are both in and crowding my bottom teeth. He prefered to put me thru pain once for one tooth and then again a seperate date for another tooth. Then told me "go see someone else then" when I voiced my concern for that unneccesary extra procedure. Please find someone else he was extremely rude and unwarm.
