Been to Dr. LaVine's Alexandria office twice for a shoulder injury. The first time I was there, the office staff nurse actually helped an injured elderly patient fill out her paperwork, especially questions that she didn't understand. I was impressed. Every time I call the office, they are very helpful. The wait time I experienced is at par with some other D.C. area doctors. My PCP get "good reviews" but I wait just as long with him as I do with Dr. LaVine. The guys knows what he is doing for sure. Nobody is saying anything about the actual skills of this doctor which is the most important.

The staff asked me to sign a waiver saying I'd seen their health disclosure and were horribly rude when I had the temerity to ask to actually see the waiver. As the other review stated, there was then an extremely long wait (over 1.5 hrs past when my appoint was set), at which point I got to see the doctor. The doctor was cheerful, didn't feel particularly thorough but sent me off to go get some more x-rays. I got the x-rays and called the next day to see if the doctor had taken a look. Was told that he was in a different office but that I'd get a call back the following day when he had a chance to take a look. It has now been over a week and a half and I have yet to get a call. The doctor is fine, it's his staff that is atrocious. Would not recommend putting yourself through this.

Dr. Peter Lavine is a horrible doctor. You wait for hours in his office, dealing with his unfriendly staff, only to see him for all of a minute or so. At my last appointment, the doctor did not even examine my injuries. He did not have me take off the brace or sling, or even touch me. He never had me show him my range of motion (or lack of), but was quick to send you off with a prescription and another appointment (which his staff won't even make during your visit). Please, if you can, do not see this doctor. From what I have heard from others now, what I experienced is "normal" for this doctor/office. Please run away from him!!
