I would have no problem giving them a recommendation. If anyone needed a gastroenterologist, I would direct them here. I was seen almost as soon as I walked in the door. I didn't have to reorganize my day around my appointment at all. The waiting area here is extremely spacious. There is never overcrowding and everything is spaced appropriately. I haven't seen any coupons or discounts for this provider's office, but I haven't really looked. They never mention anything about promotions when I'm there. They were by far one of the best I've ever seen in their field. It was obvious that they've been exceeding their clients' expectations for many years.

They always have an immediate answer for me when I call with a question. They would never try to get me to make an appointment unless I really needed one. I really admire them for being more than willing to ask for help from other professionals in the field when they don't have an answer to my question. They aren't even slightly arrogant, and I'm confident they always have my best interest at heart. There was no annoying music playing while I waited or during my visit. I appreciated that they didn't have that typical elevator music on.
I have had several issues that Dr. Hawthorne addressed and worked with me on, as well as two emergency procedures. I have always found her helpful, understanding, compassionate, and willing to take the extra step. I would definitely recommend her to anyone else needing a gastroenterologist.

I have been suffering with intense stomach pain post gastric bypass. This doctor has done 4 EGD's on me and tells me everytime that I just need to relax and let the pain go away because its all in my head. The last episode I had my husband had to call 911 to get me to the hospital. The hospital staff tried several times unsuccessfully to contact Dr. Hawthorne to have her come and treat me. 8 hours later, alot of morphine, avtivan and a CT, she still had not called back. I am still suffering with this. She had perscribed me hyomax but when I try to get refills her medical assistant NEVER answers the phone or calls back. The pharmacy has sent refill requests 5 times to no avail. Her bedside manner is absolutely terrible. The last EGD I had, she told the nurse, 'just knock her out so I can find out that there is nothing wrong with her faster." DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR!!!!!

I would NOT recommend this doctor for the following reason, complete lack of patient follow up.
Doctor Hawthorne performed my colonoscopy in March, 2010. Feeling intense pain 2 hours after the colonoscopy I called her office only to have her not return my call. Days later as the pain continued I called again. Her secretary said she would have the doctor return my call, which she did not. I drove to her office twice, both times she refused to see me or answer my questions. After my primary care physician had a CT done to check on the pain and found a tumor my primary care physician instructed me to contact Doctor Hawthorne for a recommendation on what type of foods were recommended to pass easily through the colon while I awaited surgery. Dr. Hawthorne again refused to be of service and her secretary relayed that if I wanted to talk with Dr. Hawthorne I would need to get my insurance to approve an office visit. She never had the courtesy to call back or leave a message after contacting her office a total of five times, both in person and on the phone.
