I went in to see this Doctor during my first episode of optic neuritis. A condition where one suddenly - over 48 hours to two weeks loses the site in one eye. After an initial assessment and a follow up test. It was concluded that my eye was 'healthy' despite the fact that the condition continued to worsen. (And I was in a distraught panicked state) This extreme negative review is a result of what happened next as I know doctors are not perfect and they do misdiagnose at times.
When they determined my eye was normal, no one called to tell me in order to expedite the referal to the next level to stop the deterioration of my vision. When I called them I was not allowed to speak to the doctor, schedule a consult to discuss his test results, or otherwise expect a call back from him OR an explanation as to why not. I was told I could speak with a 'tech' who told me she had as much training as the doctor to answer general questions about my possible medical conditions. She proceded to do this - gave me information that later proved to be false and could have delayed getting the correct diagnosis and resulted in further loss of vision. The staff was annoyed at having to talk to me to the tune of sending a certified letter a week later dropping me from their practice (I had not called for a follow up nor did I intend to after they missed the diagnosis and gave false information). This letter was adding insult to injury and was based on exactly two panicky phone calls lasting less than 2 minutes each. And one civil discussion with the 'tech' where she provided inaccurate information in an annoyed tone.
This was a time sensitive issue to avoid permanent vision loss (as far as we knew at that time) - his failure to bother calling me with results or discussing my case with me could have delayed my getting in to see the neurologist before the weekend - a doctor who did accurately diagnose and treat the condition the next day. (thanks to my being a squeaky wheel and NOT any proactive patient support offered by this doctor or his office) - they missed it, they blew it, and they know it, so they dropped me.
So - if you are a person who never questions your doctor and does what you are told and does not feel the need to be 'in the loop' of your own medical care..then I suppose you would not get fired by this guy.
