Their staff is very friendly and professional. They didn't help me as much as I was hoping and didn't answer all my questions. The office was easy enough to find. I would never visit them again. I was very disappointed. I felt very rushed. They barely spent two minutes with me and almost completely ignored me.

To Whom It May Concern,
Dr. Michael Kim has a very poor attitude and was extremely rude to both my wife and myself. To start with, the waiting room was packed full to the point where people had to stand. I had a scheduled appointment twice and each time I had an hour wait before I was taken into the exam room. The first appointment after discussing my concerns, he recommended putting a scope in my throat to examine my vocal cords and the appointment was over. I came back two weeks later and I am handed a form that states that the Dr. explained to me that I am having a surgical procedure and that the complications could include rupture, bleeding etc. I stated to the girl that was checking me that nobody explained to me that this was a surgical procedure and what the complications are. I was told that they would put a tube in my nose to view my vocal cords, but that was it. I told her I’d sign the form anyways because I was still planning on going through with the procedure; however I wanted them to know that nobody had taken the time to explain it to me. Dr. Kim came into the room with a hostile attitude and asked if I knew why I was there. I explained I did, but nobody told me this was a surgical procedure with risks and that was why I brought it up. He didn’t hide his annoyance and the rest of the appointment he was visibly angry. After looking at my vocal cords he said everything is fine and was walking out the door when my wife and I stopped him by asking questions. Each time we asked a question, he was abrupt and trying to leave and I called him out on it. He then begrudgingly came in and sat down and was answered the questions with a very condescending attitude. He referred to my wife as ma’am, with a harsh tone of voice and told me the problem was all in my head. I could go on about how horrible this appointment was, but the end result is I would never see this guy again. I asked for a 2nd opinion and saw a Dr. that ran the test, explained that it wasn’t what I was worried about, but it was vocal dysphonia and treatable with speech therapy. The bottom line is that Dr. Michael Kim has horrible people skills and overbooks his days which leads to him not have the patients he should have when dealing with people. It would be a benefit for Alamitos IPA to not force people to use Dr. Kim and provide members with other options.

Just as a side note, I was very impressed with how conveniently located this business was and how close it was to other shopping centers. It was so easy to find, I didn't have any trouble at all. I definitely liked how many treatment options I was presented with here. They didn't recommend surgery too quickly and really wanted to try other treatments first. I was glad that they were located in a safe neighborhood.

I have been to ENTs my entire life and haven't had many good ones, dr Kim is the only dr I can find who knows what he us doing, he is very nice, but with any good dr has a ton of patients, as well as patience! I dont dread going to see him, last time I was there he has been sharing the office with another place, (dermatologist?) and the lobby was very nice and quite relaxing. He is quick in appointments but gives you the time needed and will tell you quickly if he can/cannot help you. Also he gives many options and will work with you.

Won't be going back to Dr. Kim. Both of my appointments lasted for a total of 10 minutes. Was he in a hurry? I can only assume so. The people at the front demanded I get my CT scans done, picked up, and brought to him for the appointments (as I had 2 different scans done). Funny thing was that he didn't even look at them and just read the results from my GP. Talk about frustrating.

At the end of my second 4 and 1/2 minute appointment, he said flat out that he couldn't help me, but when I got home, the results from my second scan clearly stated my problem on the second page. It was like he only read the first line of the results.

I'll be seeing another ENT who actually cares about me and my diagnosis. Dr. Kim can piss off.

They tell you to come 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. Which would be 1:45pm. I arrived at 1:45pm for a 2pm appt just to find their door locked because they were out to lunch until 2pm!

They also book 3 people for one appt time. 3 of us were waiting for a 2pm appt with the same dr.

The staff are a bunch of idiots, not only because of the above complaint but she kept us waiting another 5 minutes before handing us the paperwork we needed to fill out! They rarely return your calls either.
