I've already told my friends and family about the fantastic experience I had there. I always have the best experience every time I have an appointment here. Although I have not had much to complain about, I have noticed that they strongly adhere to the customer is always right policy and if anything goes wrong make every effort to correct the situation. There was lots of available parking at their office. I was glad that I didn't have to drive around looking for parking.

FIRST DO NO HARM
MY FATHER WAS A DENTIST IN CALIFORNIA. I KNOW WHAT PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS ARE.I KNOW WHAT MINIMUM STANDARDS
OF CARE ARE. NOT EVEN THE BAREST MINIMUM STANDARDS OF CARE WERE GIVEN TO ME AS A PATIENT:
LLOYD MARCUM PHYSICALLY ASSAULTED ME IN HIS OFFICE; HIS ACTIONS AND THOSE OF HIS STAFF WERE, AT BEST, MEAN AND SADISTIC. THE EXPERIENCE WAS LITERALLY HAVING A ROOT CANAL WITH NO ANESTHESIA. NOT EVEN A TOPICAL. IT FELT LIKE THE SYRINGE HAD SALINE IN IT. THE PAIN WAS EXCRUCIATING THROUGHOUT THE PROCEDURE. HIS BRUTALITY CAUSED A LATERAL BREAK IN THE TOOTH, WHICH RESULTED IN LOSING THE TOOTH. ANOTHER DENTIST QUICKLY PICKED UP THE LATERAL BREAK AND HAS TESTIFIED THAT LATERAL BREAKS ONLY HAPPEN WHEN GREAT FORCE IS APPLIED. RESEARCH BACKS THIS UP. HE WAS ANGRY, VERY ANGRY, AND I WAS THE TARGET OF HIS ANGER EVERY TIME HE WOULD TAKE THE HEEL OF HIS HAND TO JAM THE SPLINT BACK INTO MY MOUTH WHICH CAUSED INCREASED PAIN. I COULDN'T HELP BUT CRY. I WAS BEING TORTURED. WHEN I DID, HE TOLD ME SEVERAL TIMES, THAT IF I CONTINUED TO CRY, HE WOULD STOP WORK AND SEND ME AWAY. I KNEW THAT THE NERVE WAS EXPOSED, SO I KNEW THAT I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO STAY IN THAT CHAIR AND CONTINUE TO ACCEPT HIS SADISTIC BRUTALIZING. MEANWHILE THE 2 STAFF PERSONS WERE MOCKING ME. I WAS STILL IN SUCH PAIN THE NEXT MORNING, I HAD TO GO TO THE ER WHERE THE KINDEST OF NURSES COVERED ME WITH A BLANKET, LISTENED TO MY PAIN AND GAVE ME IV TORDAL; BLISSFUL RELIEF. I SLEPT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 5 DAYS.
MY PTSD IS SO SEVERE THAT I CANNOT BEAR TO THINK OF THIS MUCH LESS WRITE ABOUT IT. EVEN THOUGH THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL YEARS AGO, I WAS JUST AT MY DENTIST AND HAD A PANIC ATTACK. WITH PTSD, THERE ARE TRIGGERS AND BEING IN A DENTAL CHAIR IS THE LAST PLACE ANYONE REALLY WANTS TO BE, BUT FOR ME, IT IS TRAUMATIC.
I HAVE A FILE AN INCH THICK. AND ONE THING MORE, THE CALIFORNIA DENTAL SOCIETY TURNED A BLIND EYE AND A DEAF EAR...MARCUM IS HUMAN TEFLON. THIS IS ALL I CAN WRITE RIGHT NOW, BUT I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR OF ANYONE ELSE WHO'S BEEN VICTIMIZED BY THIS TOXIC, IMPAIRED DENTIST.
MORE INSTALLMENTS TO COME...

I was referred to Dr. Marcum for a routine root canal on a slightly nerve damaged tooth. The tooth was otherwise in good shape not fractured. I was quoted $1,650.00 for the prcedure which included $200.00 for non-intravenious sedation. This non-intravenious sedation turned out to be a Valium pill which I paid for and took an hour prior to the the procedure in June of 2010. Following the procedure I experienced a great deal of pain in my jaw and the tooth. I called Dr. Marcum's office and was told this was normal. Two weeks later, I still could not touch anything to the tooth and had to use the other side of my mouth for all chewing. Dr. Marcum's office told me to go ahead and crown the tooth and did not have me come in. I had a temporary crown put on the tooth and it continued to hurt more every day. In fact after about six weeks, my whole left jaw was completely unoperational. I insisted on coming into Dr. Marcum's office a few days before the $926.00 permanent crown was to be cemented. He had the original X-ray which had been taken the same day of the root canal hanging up and did not take another X-ray even though I was in extreme pain. He suggested at this time to put the permanent crown on with temporary cement but did not do an investigation into the pain I was experiencing. I was in in office for about three minutes and his attidude was one of my wasting his time. I put the permanent crown on the next week, Sept. 14, 2010 and it did nothing to alleviate my pain. By Oct 1, the pain was so bad I saw an oral surgeon. The X-ray in the oral surgeon's office showed progressive deterioration of the root and inflamation on the ligament, and infection percariously close to my sinus cavities, all causing tremendous pain and pressure. Molar #14 was extracted several days later for $756.00 and a implant consisting of two separate surgeries awaits me for a cost of at least $5,000.00. I wrote Dr. Marcum's office a letter explaining what had happened asking for reimbursements of costs and I received a harassing letter from his insurance company asking me for personal non-dental medical information and other private information, clearly trying to intimidate me from getting my bill adjusted. Lloyd Marcum, not a caring Doctor and apparently not a very nice guy either.
