Please believe me when I say I am terrified of the dentist. I will always be terrified. I rarely go (once every five years) because I am genuinely scared. Having said this, I visited Dr. Frank Flanagin for the first time last month. On the first visit, I had a simple and painless cleaning (I will always find it uncomfortable and I hate it, but the cleaning was made easier to handle because of the very personable and caring hygienist). After the cleaning, Dr. Flanagin came in and told me about the work that needed to be done (a few fillings). He assured me it would be very simple. When I came in two weeks later, I was crying because I was so scared. He took me back and did a good job of trying to keep my mind off the procedure by just talking kindly to me and asking me what my weekend plans were. He put a piece of medicated gauze on my gum, which totally numbed it. Because of this, I didn't even feel the shot. I've never had a dentist do that before -- use a topical anesthetic so that I wouldn't even feel the needle (terrified of those, too)! He gave me two or three shots and I felt absolutely nothing. He made sure I was completely numb before he began working. At one point I felt a tiny bit of pressure (not pain). I let him know, and without missing a beat he told me he would give me another shot to make sure I was totally numb (I didn't feel the shot then, either). He continued working after checking again to make sure I was totally numb. Overall the drilling took about 15 minutes, and maybe another fifteen to form the actual fillings. The dental assistant was also very friendly; she wiped away my tears with a Kleenex the entire time. It was so sweet. After the procedure he told me he was going on vacation the next day but that if I had any problems I could contact him on his cell. This was very nice. It turns out I had NO PAIN at all during the procedure or after (I went home and ate a slice of pizza). I have had absolutely no problems. I am scheduled for another appointment in a few weeks. I know I'll go in crying again, because that's how an irrational phobia operates, but I also know I'll be in great hands and will have no pain. Dr. Flanagin is very personable and cares a lot about his patients. If you have a terrible fear of the dentist, Dr. Flanagin is the provider to see. You will be glad you did...for the sake of your teeth AND your sanity!

They made sure every single question I had was answered, and are always available if I think of any more questions I want answered. Their staff is the most friendly, welcoming staff I've ever dealt with. They are so warm and professional, and make the whole experience that much better. I was so impressed with the progress I was able to make after visiting them. All my questions were answered, and I feel a lot more confident and hopeful about the future. The office was very easy to locate. I didn't have any trouble finding it at all. I have lived in Conway for over 40 years and have watched it grow from just a few dentists to very many. I went to the same dentist forever but after being treated not so well after being a regular patient for over 30 years......rudeness and wanting to do procedures just for money.... I then went to another dentist who has been in Conway for years. Having always had good teeth that I have taken great care of I was shocked when they set me up for 6weeks in a row of expensive procedures knowing they would get paid. I was extremely disappointed. I then went to Frank who had been highly recommended and had the absolute best experience! There are a couple places that need watching but he is not a greedy doc just out for a dollar. I've known Frank since he was born and he is a very private type of guy so some may percieve this side of him in the wrong way. I know him so very much appreciate this side of him. You will not find a better dentist in all of Conway. His staff is very professional and does a great job as well. I am thrilled to now have another great dentist to regularly go to!
