He received a Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner in 2006 from the University of Tennessee. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southern Adventist University. Prior to joining The Chattanooga Heart Institute, he worked for a number of years as a registered nurse then as a nurse practitioner at the Alliance of Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgeons. Prior to that position, Michael worked as a nurse at Memorial Hospital for 13 years.
