Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: Throughout my life, I have been drawn towards helping people. As a five year old girl, I loved the feeling of assisting my grandmother as she would let me give her eye drops for her glaucoma. Perhaps my passion for caring for others and their health was sparked at this age but it continued to grow along with me. In college my aspirations to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant were confirmed by my fascination with learning about human biology and by spending time in a developing country on a community health-based workshop. The need for access to health care at home and abroad was evident.
