Carol’s interest in genetic counseling began when she was in 7th grade and carrier testing for Tay-Sachs disease was first developed. She remembers learning about the amazing potential of this technology, as well as the many pit falls that the introduction of genetics into healthcare could have. As the years went on, her interest and knowledge grew, and she wanted to have a say in how this type of new technology would be used. She wanted to help families understand the benefits and limitation of genetic tests, and help them make informed decisions about testing that were right for themselves and their families. Her current interest is in cancer genetics, although her passion has always been in pediatric genetics.
